February is here - the month of love. With red, pink, and hearts at every turn, it's hard not to think about love. Who we love, what we love, and how we love comes to the surface, and after an often reflective start to the year in January, February asks us to take action and express it.
Local business Artisans & agency in downtown Santa Cruz is filled with hearts in February, but their hearts speak to their love for the arts as they hold their annual fundraiser for Arts Council Santa Cruz County’s Arts Education program, “Hearts for the Arts.” This fundraiser, created by Artisans & agency owner Linnaea Holgers, is in its 15th year and represents the importance of inspiring our youth through arts education.

With an opening reception on First Friday, February 7, “Heart for the Arts” features donated artwork from over 60 local artists on auction through February. This year, the theme is slightly different. Bidding ends February 13. Artists were given the prompt, “For the Love of…” and asked to let their imaginations run wild. Each piece's bidding starts low and has a “buy it now” option. 100% of proceeds from the donated art sales go to fund Arts Education.
So, for the love of…ART, stop by Artisans & agency this month and place a bid to help give more students across the county access to education that inspires creativity and gives them the tools and confidence they need to freely express themselves through art.
